Ah Ma, Dance Dance Involution, Don Toberman: Ping Pong Champ, Dots, Nick it for Munich, Penelope Quadrangle and the Meaning of Friendship, The Faustus Project, The Totally Improvised Musical, Wright & Granger’s Orpheus
My first time in Edinburgh has not disappointed, despite a delayed bag and more hills than this Texas girl knew existed. Everyone has been incredibly friendly, and I think it’s too early to say I haven’t been bombarded by people passing out fliers. They also serve some brilliant gin and scotch in these parts. Maybe my favorite drink was a bartender’s dad’s favorite, Jura Whisky, I mean, if his dad likes it, it’s gotta be good. On to the reviews.
MUST-SEE SHOWS
Wright & Granger’s Orpheus at Summerhall

Wright & Granger embody the beauty of live theatre. Masters of word, song, and performance. With just 2 actors, 1 book, and 1 guitar, I was transported into every moment of the story. A dazzling work of art!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SHOWS
Ah Ma at theSpaceUK @ Niddry St.

A beautiful story told with humor and love. Kasen is a brilliant actress. The moments of silence and physicality are spellbinding. The direction is impeccable - it is truly breathtaking what is done with just a chair and a shirt. I felt Ah Ma in the room.
Dance Dance Involution at theSpaceUK @ Niddry St.

A really fun show! I got a peek into the life of Gen Z, and they helped me see the world in a new way. Not only was the show full of live TikTok’s, but it had a depth of emotion that dug into your soul. Watch out for these Hong Kong Girls- they are going to change the world!”
Don Toberman: Ping Pong Champ at The Pleasance Courtyard

Don Toberman can Ping my Pong any time. Of course, that’s after I kick his a$$ in the tournament. A true comedy that lets you laugh for an hour. Chase makes you feel welcome and comfortable, even when he’s in a thong! I regretted not sitting in the front row.
Dots at theSpaceUK @ Niddry St.

A moving tale that reminds us to always choose life. Annie is a phenomenal actress, performing with depth, honesty, and a little sass that is only achievable by an overcomer. What she creates with balloons and a chair is extraordinary.
RECOMMENDED SHOWS
Nick it for Munich at Greenside @ George Street

Jamie is an absolutely endearing character. The family relationship is something every parent dreams of (even if your kid does head to Munich without telling you). Strikes a wondrous balance between joy and heartache.
The Faustus Project at Underbelly Cowgate

A devilishly good time. Spirit and tomfoolery galore. The actors did a brilliant job of working with the volunteer and incorporating them into the show. If you like something a little naughty, this is a show for you.
MORE FUN SHOWS TO CHECK OUT
Penelope Quadrangle and the Meaning of Friendship at Greenside @ George Street

A cautionary tale of friendship, with a fun twist at the end. A little quirky and a lot of giggles. A valiant effort by a young troop of actors.
The Totally Improvised Musical at The Three Sisters

A really good time. The improvisers transformed the suggestion into a fun story with unexpected, meaningful moments. A special shout-out to the keyboardist.
